So the girl I nanny for begged me to make cupcakes with her for St. Patty’s (:  We decided to try rainbow with “marshmallowww cloooud frosting”—as she put it—aaaand the chaos ensued…

The first time around we dyed the batter in bowls and used spoons to pour it into the cups.  HOT MESS, not to mention seriously annoying.  Those turned out cool, but more like tye-dye..

Once I got home, I tried again.  Using plastic baggies to pipe made this task a lot more managable (knocked out the problem of the paper cups sticking to the spoons..grrrr) and it helped me keep the layers thin (with all the colors we tended to overfill the cups).  The end result was delicious and everyone I shared with went crazy over the surprising colors inside andddd the icing (think like homemade marshamllow fluff!), buuut it was a lot of stress over something that was devoured in 3.3 seconds haha.  Don’t know if this will be a repeat..

Busy, busy.  After witnessing a Police shootout -basically in my backyard- my boyfriend and I took the puppy and escaped to his parents house in the suburbs.  Nice to let the pup run around without a leash.  Since we’ve gotten little Tessa, its been nothing but stress and tension; definitely a true test our patience aaand relationship.  My lovely boyfriend woke up the next day, put aside being annoyed and:
made me breakfast
took me out to lunch
drove me around on all of my errands
It was clear that things were still a little tense; even clearer? That he loves me enough to treat me so well, even when we’re not at our best that day.
Nice little realization.  I am indeed a lucky girl in more ways than I even know.
And the cookies?
Pretty simple.  Bf heads to work, and I decide to surprise him with decorated sugar cookies of some things he loves haha and he wont even eat them yet because they are “works of art”.  Oy.

…at least it tasted good haha My dad is a bowling fanatic so I thought I’d give it a try.  I wish the red hadn’t turned out so muted, basically pink; however, I made a homemade fruit reduction and spread it between two layers of vanilla/almond white cake—AMAZING.  I need to work on my fondant placement skills so it doesn’t bunch around the sides like that.
